NEWS: Class 2

Dear Class 2, Parents and Carers,
Hoping you are all keeping safe and well.
With our Christmas celebrations being so different this year… with no whole school performance, no Christmas Fayre…. it is all very different for us all.
However, in our classes we are working on presentations/performances for us to share with one another.
Therefore, in Class 2 we have decided that we would like to wear a Christmas jumper and a Christmas hat for our performance. We will be recording our performance on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th therefore, please can the children in Class 2 wear their jumpers and hats on these days? If you do not have a jumper, a top, Christmassy colour – red/green will be equally as good.
The children are working hard, singing beautifully and bringing some Christmas spirit into our classes, as safely as we possibly can.
I hope this is ok as I appreciate that it is Christmas Jumper day on 11th also.
Thank you in anticipation of your support,
Kindest regards,
Mrs Shickell

News: Platinum Award

Dear Children, Parents and Carers of Ysgol Brynffordd,
I am messaging to let you know some exciting news. Today we received notification that our school has maintained our Platinum Eco status.
My thanks go especially,  to the children of our wonderful school and also to Mrs Greenough for her dedication and commitment in helping me to drive this initiative forward. I must also give a special mention to our ex-pupils who are now in their chosen Secondary schools, for the work they did whilst at our school too. WELL DONE EVERYONE.
I am so pleased and proud of the work that has been done to enable  us to maintain this prestigious award. We have set new targets for this academic year and we hope and pray that we are able to follow and reach our goals successfully, without any interruptions throughout this next academic year.

CONGRATULATIONS/ LLONGYFARCHIADAU PAWB!
Well done and thank you for your support,
Kindest regards,
Mrs Shickell and the Eco Committee.

News:Class 2

Hello Class 2, Parents and Carers,
I am just updating to say a HUGE well done to those of you who have handed in your latest homework. I’ve had a really enjoyable time marking the designs you have handed in, whether it’s a picture of a castle that you have drawn or a castle you have designed on Minecraft… really super, so a HUGE well done!
Your next task is also now set for you on Google Classroom and like we have discussed today… let’s see if we can write our book based on the Bel Mooney theme…
Entrepreneurial Week What a great couple of days we have had so far designing and preparing our Christmas items. We have been using our entrepreneurial skills to make sure we choose and spend our money wisely… we have sourced some wood from our Forest School  this afternoon to use to help us in the making of our chosen items… I’m sure they’ll look great.
Well done Class 2,  Take care, From, Mrs Shickell

News: WAG IMPORTANT UPDATED ADVICE ON THE WEARING OF FACE MASKS.

Dear Parents/ Carers

Wearing of face coverings (primary)

The Welsh Government has updated its guidance on the use of face coverings in schools.

To reduce the risk of transmission amongst parents and relatives, please wear masks when visiting school, and at drop-off and collection areas. Maintaining clear social distance at the school gates will also reduce risk and set a good example to pupils.

If you have a secondary school aged child, be aware that face coverings should now be worn by year 7 and above pupils in all areas outside the classroom and be worn on dedicated school transport for year 7 and up.

Please follow these guidelines and encourage your child to follow theirs too.

Along with regular hand washing/sanitising and social distancing, this will reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 at school as far as possible.

They have been made stronger to keep you and your families as safe as possible. They are based on new advice from Welsh Government’s Technical Advisory Group, as we learn more about the way COVID-19 is transmitted.

Thank you for your help in doing all we can – together – to keep ourselves and others safe.

Yours sincerely

Rachel Critchell
